Light to Voltage Sensors IC
A range of low cost visible light sensor ASICs with a current output which is directly proportional to the light level.
They show excellent uniformity and linearity of performance with various types of light including ambient, tungsten filament, fluorescent and LED lights.
The devices are supplied in 2-pin packaged LED style or SMD, especially designed to replace CdS cell as a result of the RoHS initiative. |
Features
● Analogue design with Digital outputs.
● Free from memory effects(such as blooming in the CdS cell).
● Near human eye photopic response.
● High IR rejection.
● Temperature stable.
● Integrated high gain photo-current amplifier.
● Dark-current cancellation.
|
Applications
● Dawn/dusk sensing
● Security lighting ( surveillance camera)
● Car Rear View Camera
● Baby monitor
● Display backlighting in laptops, mobile phones, LCD TVs
● Night-lights/ Solar-lawn lamps |

Selection of Rss
The Visible Light Sensor series can be used over a range of lighting conditions by selecting a suitable value of Rss , or by varying Vdd.
The table below summaries how to select values of Rss, and show which device (A1C or A2C) is suitable for each desired application.
The graph below also illustrates the usable ranges of both the A1C and A2C, with 1KΩ, 10KΩ and 25KΩ resistors. Note that for these examples Vdd is fixed at 5V. |
